The Rad Boob Calendar is ... rad!

Comment on this Post

It's a new year, so if you haven't bought a 2010 calendar, here's your chance! Support breast cancer and the rippin friends of ours at SheJumps.

We are a group of female skiers that met in Golden, B.C. While skiing together we realized that by combining our contacts and skills we could put together an amazing women's ski calendar and raise a significant amount of money for Breast Cancer research. We are ski coaches, professional skiers, big mountain competitors, nurses, young professionals, students, and more. We are all passionate about mountains and live to ski. We are constantly inspired by the people around us and hope that as skiers we can still make a difference in this world by raising money for a great cause and inspire others to lead healthy and active lives.—Holly Walker

Boobs are rad. That is why a group of female skiers are taking their boobs into their own hands and raising money for breast cancer awareness. Under the leadership of West Coast transplants Sarah Frood and Tessa Treadway, a ski fundraising calendar has been born. The Rad Boob calendar got its name from a group of women in Golden who, in retaliation against the exclusivity of the Rad Dude Club, created their own gang: the Rad Boob Club.

They have club t-shirts, and are often seen skiing gnarly terrain sporting hot pink Zinka on their lips. Where "follow the ponytails," is overheard, the Rad Boob Club can be found.

The Rad Boob calendar features lifestyle and action shots of female freeskiers form all over the map, including well-known athletes such as Ingrid Backstrom, Grete Eliassen, and Lynsey Dyer. The roster is rounded out by homegrown talents such as Frood, Treadway, Kirsten Lyle, Lotte Bond, and many more talented skiers. The calendar was designed and laid out by Holly Walker, who is also featured in it. Frood says "I barely knew Holly before [the calendar], but she designed the whole calendar and put so much work into this. She's become an awesome friend."

Many photographers donated their time and photos into the making the Rad Boob calendar, such as local Whistlerites as Jordan Manley and yours truly. The project is a not-for-profit venture, with all of the proceeds going to Rethink Breast Cancer www.rethinkbreastcancer.com.

The calendar will be selling on the Rad Boob website for $20. Visit www.radboob.com to purchase a calendar, find tour information, and learn more about the lovely ladies involved in the project."
