Taking a jump to Australia — and beyond

Comment on this Post Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket Jumper Gina Brewer (left) took off last spring for an adventure of a lifetime, but that wasn't her only jump. She celebrated putting on a bikini for the first time. Read her story below ... I decided to take my Jump on May 11, 2007, to Sydney, Australia to start my adventure “Down Under.” This was the land of natural beauty. The landscape varied from tropical rain forest to beautiful sunny beaches. Scattered along the coasts, its cities blend a European enthusiasm for art and food with a laid-back love of sport and the outdoors. I was on an adventure to travel, surf, and learn more about myself. Before I decided to take this jump I was a college soccer coach with a teaching degree in physical education and health. I enjoyed my job but I enjoy traveling more and new that I had a great opportunity and had to take it while I could. I decided to stay with a friend and call Brisbane, Australia, “my home” or base while I was on my down under adventure. From there I went North and South to surf, snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef, and eat a few “Works” burgers along the way. The biggest jump that I made while I was in Australia might seem like a normal thing for most girls but has always been very uncomfortable for me. I wore a bikini! Yep I actually wore a bikini on the beaches. I have never quite been comfortable with my body but I figured hey I am in another country, no one knows me here I might as well be liberated and just do it. So yea that is it my big jump down under, (well besides coming here in the first place) was to wear a bikini with confidence. I have to admit it felt good to get a tan on my stomach.
